In the Loire-Atlantique, discover La Baule, a seaside resort between Pornichet and Le Pouliguen that you won’t want to miss during your camping holiday in the region. Its many activities and endless beach make it the perfect place for you to explore.
La Baule-Escoublac has come a long way. It was once a tiny hamlet located in a deserted marshy area, but today, thanks to contributions from wealthy traders and entrepreneurs at the end of the 19th century, it is now a well-developed seaside resort, perfect for your holidays.
You can admire the modern and varied architecture of the villas and luxury hotels, which combine Art Deco, “ocean liner”, Basque, Moorish and Belle Époque styles.
But what attracts visitors most during the summer is no doubt the town’s magnificent beach. It stretches some 9 km, making it one of the longest in Europe. The beach of La Baule hosts an array of sports and nautical activities, including surfing, windsurfing and jet-skiing, not to mention the beach clubs and the numerous bars and restaurants when you fancy something to eat or drink.
La Baule-les-Pins is an emblematic district of the town built in the 1920s and it stands out for its lush vegetation and magnificent gardens. These include the Parc de Dryades, which covers 25,000 m2 and harbours nearly 20,000 plants, making it the ideal setting for a stroll – alone, with the family or with your special someone.
The Forest of La Baule-Escoublac area is even larger and is also part of this district. It is home to the second-highest dune in France, after the Dune du Pilat! For the sporty types among you, there is a fitness trail there which includes around forty pieces of apparatus. And to learn more as you go along, there is a discovery tour that includes panels to help you better understand the forest and how the dunes were formed.
In a nutshell, La Baule is chic, lined with terrific beaches and shady trees!
